Itinerary

Day 1Little Village Chiang Mai

This trip starts in Chiang Mai, depending on your total itinerary we can either arrange a flight or sleeper train from Bangkok. In Chiang Mai, you will stay outside of the old city, at a family resort consisting of teak bungalows on stilts in traditional Thai style. This beautiful spot is perfect to recover from a long flight and get used to the tropical climate, or just relax after a busy holiday. Upon arrival, you will receive extensive information about your tour and tonight you are invited for a welcome dinner.

Day 2The Lanna Countryside and Chiang Mai City

Experience the Thai countryside by bicycle. The starting point is your villa. We will visit traditional villages with wooden houses on stilts, stop at a village school, ride through the rice fields along lazy back roads and the forest areas connecting the small villages. Encounters such as water buffaloes crossing the street or children being surprised by the unusual sight of foreigners cycling through their village can be expected. There is sufficient time to stop, have a rest or refreshment and chat with the villagers to get a feeling of the local life.
At the end of the afternoon, we will take you to the center of Chiang Mai. Here you can enjoy a relaxing Thai massage for about 2 hours by qualified masseuses according to the acupressure method. Then visit the famous night market for shopping and dinner, and back to your villa.

Day 3Doi Suthep Temple

The morning is free at leisure to enjoy the tropical climate. In the afternoon you will visit the famous temple of Chiang Mai, Doi Suthep. This temple is situated on top of a hill and this gives you a fantastic view of the surroundings. Next, you visit a Hmong hill tribe village. The Hmong always build their villages on top of a mountain. This tribe originates from Laos and during the Vietnam War they fought on the side of the Americans, they were known for their fighting skills.
Then to the Khantoke, this dinner is a nice introduction in the Lanna culture. The dinner will be served on a khantoke (=low round table) and consists of typical Northern Thai dishes. While you are eating you can enjoy a beautiful show with traditional live music.

Day 4Elephant Sanctuary and Bamboo Rafting

We drive to Mae Wang, famous for its many elephant sanctuaries along the river. You will visit one of them and assist in feeding and bathing the elephants, take a cooling dip in the river while cleaning and playing with the elephants in the water. Next, a short hike of about 45 minutes to a Meo (Hmong) Hill tribe village.
Lunch will be served in Mae Win. And then onward to rafting. The rafts are made from bamboo, by connecting long bamboo sticks. You will descend the river at a relaxing pace, enjoying the natural surroundings of lush greenery and beautiful mountain views. Another short hike to a Karen village. And to finish the day we visit a waterfall where we can swim. After that, we drive back to Chiang Mai.

Day 5Check Out

After breakfast, your tour ends here. You can take the train or plane back to Bangkok, we can book another onward flight or you can extend your holiday differently, all up to you.
