Itinerary

Day 1Chiang Mai

This trip starts in Chiang Mai, depending on your total itinerary we can either arrange a flight or night train from Bangkok. In Chiang Mai, you will stay outside of the old city, at a family resort consisting of teak bungalows on stilts in traditional Thai style. This beautiful spot is perfect to recover from a long flight and get used to the tropical climate, or just relax after a busy holiday. But if you prefer we can book a city hotel for you instead.

Day 2 Bike and Cook Tour

Today is your chance to experience the Thai countryside by bicycle. This tour starts in a small traditional Thai village about 20 minutes from Chiang Mai. You will cycle through the valley of Chiang Mai. Visit traditional villages with wooden houses on stilts, stop at a village school, ride through the rice fields along lazy back roads and the forest areas connecting the small villages. The tour explores the lifestyle of local farmers and explains the process of seasonal rice farming.
After lunch, it is time for the cooking class. First, you go to a local market to buy vegetables, herbs and other ingredients and the guide will explain what produce is available locally. Back at the resort, you will learn how to cook Thai food. You will prepare all the food yourself and you can enjoy your own cooking during dinner.

Day 3Jungle Trek and Bamboo Rafting

We take a ride to the south of Chiang Mai and from here you go on a trek through the mountains to visit hill tribe villages. You walk through dense forest, open areas, plantations owned by mountain people and sometimes along or through rivers. In the early afternoon, we walk down the hills for a bamboo rafting trip. The rafts are made from bamboo, by connecting long bamboo sticks. The water can splash through the gaps between the sticks and you might get you wet (again). You will descend the river at a relaxing pace, enjoying the natural surroundings of lush greenery and beautiful mountain views.

Day 4 Elephant Sanctuary or Zipline Adventure

We drive to Mae Wang, famous for its many elephant sanctuaries along the river for an elephant-friendly experience. Local Karen people take care of the elephants, no more logging or elephant riding. Feed the elephants, interact and play with the elephants in their natural environment. Take a mud spa with the elephants and walk them to a beautiful waterfall for more water fun. Photo opportunity aplenty.

Or

Whipping fast through the air on ziplines, with the jungle on both sides as you fly by. You will leave the busy world behind and immerse yourself deep into the jungle. Around the zipline course are platforms suspended high up in the trees, with spectacular jungle views surrounding you. You can see paddy fields along the Mae Ram river far below. There are bridges and steps to traverse between platforms. Safety is the number one priority, so you will be hooked into a safety cable that runs above you. That way you can have fun without worrying about falling. Enjoy the views and speed.

Day 5Check Out

After breakfast, your tour ends here. You can take the train or plane back to Bangkok, we can book another onward flight or you can extend your holiday differently, all up to you.
